The Carlton Tavern is a 100yr old pub, nestling on the edge of Paddington Recreation ground in Maida Vale, where Roger Bannister famously trained to break the 4-min mile…The pub was one of only a handful of buildings on the street to survive the Blitz, however, it did not survive the bulldozers of the property developers that bought it and demolished it illegally in 2015.

Following a campaign that saw the local community and Westminster council work tirelessly for over 5 years, the pub was re-built in a complete replica of the original design by local architect Francis J. Potter.

In 2021, the pub has been reinvigorated and reopened, ready to serve the local community fine ales and great food for the next 100 years! We have a pub, dining room, and beer garden to enjoy and look forward to welcoming you for a swift half or a three-course meal and everything in between…
